I have a background in property valuation and management and left that area to raise my children in particular one child who has special needs. This has been difficult, having to be extremely resourceful navigating the bureaucracy of the health and education systems. I learnt that you need to be a strong advocate, have patience and resilience.
During this time I completed a Diploma in Dispute Resolution which helped me understand the bigger picture and keep things on track, while addressing everyones needs and wants.
Then, my wonderful mother in-law had a severe stroke. I saw first hand how difficult, time consuming and stressful it is trying to find information as you are in the world of aged care that you know nothing about. Then, there is the practical aspects of organising all that has to be done.
Following this, I knew I wanted to help others with their elderly loved ones. To do the work for you, so you can spend less time organising their care or whatever it is they need, and spend your valuable time being with them. I want people to have peace of mind that they have made the best, informed decisions for their loved ones.
So, using the skills I learnt from my child and dispute resolution work, I began Dignity First.
